Life Coaching….It’s What I Do!

Therapist? Counselor? Head Shrink? If you need any of those, I’m NOT your guy! Haha! Many people, when they hear the term “Life Coaching”, assume that it means seeing a therapist or a professional counselor of some kind. I know I did. While those things are much needed and have their place in society, that’s not what Life Coaching is about at all. So I thought I would take a moment and enlighten you about this very effective and needed profession. God led me into Life Coaching after 21 years of youth ministry and 15 years of traveling the world ministering to kids and families through music. So I want people to understand what I do and why I do it. First, it’s important to understand what Life Coaching “is not”.

Life Coaching is not counseling or therapy.
Simply put, counselors and therapists focus on the past – helping you discover the root cause of your problems and pain. From there, they help you process, resolve and heal. Thank God we have many good ones out there who can help people deal with heavy burdens they are carrying. But that’s not what I do.

Life Coaching is not consulting.
Consultants are experts in their field and are hired to give you answers and solutions based on their education, expertise and experience. While some life coaches are able to consult/give advice in certain areas, that is only a small part of what they do. i actually do consult those who are in ministry to give them practical advice in ministry related areas. And yes, sometimes it’s appropriate to interject a little advice here and there. But again, this is not the main focus of life coaching. A good life coach knows the difference in consulting and actual coaching.

So What is Life Coaching?
Simply put, Life Coaches help you go from where you are now to where you want to be. Life Coaches help you discover your potential and partner with you to help you reach your goals.
We as Life Coaches do not just hand you all the answers. Occasionally we may teach, share practical experiences, or give practical advice when appropriate, but it’s mostly the art of asking the right questions, guiding, and drawing the answers out of you. When we lead you to discover those Aha-Ha moments on your own, they mean so much more and have a more lasting effect.
Coaches can help you in almost any area of life. Some even have particular niches. There are business and executive coaches, and communication coaches. There are also marriage, family and parenting coaches, financial coaches, health and nutrition coaches, and career coaches. The list is endless.

Life Coaches like me specialize in things like life transitions, decisions, direction, obstacles, circumstances, attitude and perspective, career change, finding significance, etc. Being a ”Faith-Based” Life Coach, I mentor from a spiritual perspective, with the foundation being that God has created us for a reason, with a specific design to fulfill a specific purpose. I help grow the client in their relationship with God while they seek out that purpose. That’s the kind of life coach I am.

Regardless of where you find yourself, – we all know that the desire to know our God-given purpose is foundational. My calling is to work with people who fit the above criteria. Check out my web site, see what I do, and if any of it resonates with you, let me help you get soaring
